Several ways has been introduced for driving traffic to your website and some of them are for free. However, there are also some wherein you need to shed some money for it, they are called paid advertising. Two of the most common methods of advertising is Google Adwords, which is a part of Pay-Per-Click or PPC Advertising and article marketing wherein you write articles and submit it to article directories. The two are proven to drive traffic to your website but they have a lot of differences in more than one factors.
On this post, I’ll explain some pros and cons to both of these advertising methods. Let’s start with article marketing.
Writing articles and submitting to directories is one of the best and most effective way of promoting your site. There are several reasons why internet marketing gurus still used this method of advertising.
You can reach a wide array of audience because you can make one article, spin or rewrite it and submit it to article directories like Ezinearticles.com or Goarticles.com, these sites accepts your articles and they have high search engine rankings too. That means people can see your articles and if you include the link of your site to your resource box, readers of your articles can just click on it and they are redirected to your site.
2. Free Advertising. Submitting your articles to other websites presents an opportunity to advertise your website without paying exorbitant fees. Although you should avoid marketing language in your articles and make it informative and useful to your readers, you can always include your site’s link in the resource box. By writing excellent, original and relevant articles, you not only give your site exposure, you are also creating a good impression on your prospects.
3. Ideal for beginners. This is good for internet marketing newbies who doesn’t have the time to learn the do’s and dont’s of PPC. This way, they can still drive traffic to their website without spending tons of money.
The disadvantage of article marketing is if you don’t know how to write a good and relevant content. Even those who can write can experience writer’s block, wherein you can’t even think of anything to write. It takes time and effort to produce a good and eye catching content.
Now, let’s move on to Google adwords…
In using Google Adwords, you are charged per click on the ads that you have created. Your ads will show depending on the keywords that you have set and the price of the keyword will depend on how popular it is. The ads of Google Adwords appear on the right side of the page or at the top of the results.
This type of method will target people who is most relevant and most possible to use your product. This means that you are paying Google’s fees to ensure that your targeted people can see your ads.
How often your ads will show will be determined on the allowed budget that you’ve set on your account when creating the advertisement. And the keywords chosen will determine when your ads will show.
The downside of this is the cost. It is very expensive now to advertise using PPC advertising as it is getting saturated. Internet marketers are always fighting for the top rank in bidding these keywords. Also, these needs monitoring because each click will cost you money. You have to track what keyword is costing you money but is not making sales.
So it all boils down to how much time and effort you can put in to your business and how much budget you can afford and shed off for some advertising strategies. If you are new to all these internet marketing hoopla, it would be better to try article marketing first and then slowly make your way around the paid advertising techniques. Just learn from every single move that you have done and your business will be soaring high.
